OVERVIEW
The Río de las Vueltas is born in the Lago del Desierto and, as its name indicates it, it descends towards the Viedma lake, making numerous curves through lenga forests and vertical walls. It is one of the most importants rivers in the area and transports water from the melting of glaciers in the region.
From our privileged position in the kayak and for aproximately than 10 kilometers we can enjoy the best views of the Fitz Roy and its satellite needles, with an entirely different perspective from what can be seen from a path. Enjoy with us this unique and unforgettable experience.
ITINERARY
10:00 am. Transfer to Refugio Laguna Cóndor, located 20 kilometers north of town and on the banks of the Río de las Vueltas.
Refugio Laguna Cóndor is our base of operations for the kayaking activity. Located next to the river in a strategic position, it has equipment storage and changing rooms so that the start of the activity is comfortable even with adverse weather conditions.
Once there, our guide will hand over the individual equipment and will help us with the testing of the safety elements (suits, neoprene boots and gloves and life jacket). From there we will return to the vehicle and move 5 km upstream to the starting point of the paddling. The guide in charge will give a briefing, at the same time we will go over some useful techniques and practice paddling.
After having cleared up any doubts, we will start a unique and fun descent down the river, including a stop for photos. Along the way we will have unparalleled views of the Fitz Roy massif.
Upon arrival at the Laguna Condor Refuge, we will be able to use the changing rooms to put on our dry clothes. Then we will enjoy free time and a brunch with a drink in the main hall.
Finally we will return to Chalten. End of services.
