OVERVIEW

A unique experience in El Chaltén – Exclusive service – Small groups – Limited places

The valley is located in the Lago Del Desierto area and offers a wide range of options for those seeking experiences away from the hustle and bustle and crowds.

In this program, we hike a little-traveled trail where diverse ecosystems converge, including wetlands, Patagonian Andean forest, and a high mountain environment.

ITINERARY

The day starts at 8am with a transfer that pick you up from your accommodation. After travelling for 1.30 hours along a 37 km gravel road winding through the forest alongside the Río de las Vueltas, you will arrive at the starting point of this incredible experience.

The first section is a 40-minute walk to the refuge, where you will be offered a hot drink.

Then, we will walk another 20 minutes through a large lenga forest. As we continue and climb higher, the views of the glacier and Cerro Crestón become more and more breathtaking.

Next, we leave the vegetation behind and walk through a large rock formation eroded by the glacier. This is the most challenging part of the trek. After walking through this unique formation for two hours, we will reach the front of the glacier, where we will put on our crampons and walk across it among its crevasses.

Depending on the group’s ability and the weather conditions, we will practise ice climbing! Whether we reach the glacier depends on the weather and our particular physical condition.

After enjoying a picnic lunch, we will return to the refuge and then to the village.
